Experience

She is working in the college since 19 years. Her area of research includes ‘Women’s Periodicals of 19th and 20th centuries in Bengal’.

Publications:

  • Women’s Magazines in Bengal 1905-11’(published in the 59th Indian History Congress proceedings in 1999),
  • ‘Constructing feminine consciousness :   Bengali women’s Magazines in early 20th century(published in the journal of the Dept. of History, Rabindra Bharati University).

Conferences:

  • She presented papers entitled ‘Changing focus of women’s magazines in Bengal 1905-1947’ in the Institute of Historical Studies, Kolkata.
  • She also presented a paper on women’s magazines in Bengal 1905-11 in the 59th Indian History Congress in December 1998.
  • In the Conference of the Institute of Historical Studies in Agra in 1999, she presented a paper on the issue of social injustice and political liberation as reflected in the women’s magazines in Bengal, 1905-11.
  • In the 17th European Conference on modern South Asian Studies held in Heildleberg, Germany in September 2001, she presented a paper on ‘The Perfect Mistress in Bengali home in Colonial Bengali notions of Conjugality.’
  • She also presented a paper, in the Conference of the Institute of Historical Studies, Bhubaneswar, held in October 2006 on’ Women’s Magazines as sources of women’s history in early 20th century.’
  • Dr.PrithaLahiri visited Bishorpara College as Resource Person in 2011 & 2012 in order to deliver lectures on the curriculum  of history. She also attended a workshop on the foundation course of history in September 2015. This was a collaboration of APC College, New Barrackpore and BKC College. She is the member of the Women’s Cell, College Journal etc.
