Medical Assistance

The college has taken some special initiatives towards providing medical assistance to the students. We can highlight the following things:

1. Very recently, a policy has been adopted to bring the students under ‘Students Safety Insurance Policy’ of United India Insurance Company Limited. This scheme provides insurance support to the policy holder in case of any accident as per the terms and conditions laid down in the policy. Initially 1500 students admitted to the 1st year classes of the under graduate course in the session 2015-2016 has been included under this scheme. An Amount of Rs. 112/- plus the service tax @14.5% is paid by each student towards the annual premium of this scheme. We are planning to include all students of this college under this scheme.
2. A 16 station multi-gymnasium is installed under the supervision of a trained instructor.
3. All the students are card holders of Students’ Health Home, West Bengal.
4. Dr. Baidyanath Mukhopadhyay, a well-wisher of our institution and an eminent Physician has recently donated the following articles to the college in memory of his father Late Dr. Durgadas Mukhopadhyay for opening up sick-bed facilities:
   • Folding cot
   • Beddings
   • Stretcher
   • Weighing Machine
   • Sphygmomanometer
   • First Aid box
   • Refrigerator
5. Very recently, the college has negotiated with St. John Ambulence authorities for providing training to the students regarding health related issues and disaster management.
6. In case of medical emergency of students, nearby hospitals like the New Barrackpore Municipal Hospital and Panihati Hospital are contacted for assistance.
7. Blood donation camps are regularly organized by the students Union. Thalassemia testing and health awareness programmes are also organized by the Extension Activity Cell.
