Mastering in Anthropology from the University of Calcutta on 1983, Smt. Chaitali Bhattacharjee  started her career in the Indian Railways . She  then joined the Gazetted Cadre of the  West Bengal Civil Services .Her tenure as a teacher at  Acharya Prafulla Chandra College began in the year 1989. Alongwith teaching she has had an active academic career  with several publications and academic and research interest in Social Cultural Anthropology, Women Studies, Tribal Development and Gerontology besides successfully completing a UGC Research Project on Women Empowerment- Agency Development in 2010. Over a long career span she has successfully served in administrative positions in several academic bodies  from University Board of studies to members of the Governing Body in several Degree and B Ed Colleges. From  2016, she has even served a term  as Chairperson of West Bengal Regional School Service Commission .

She assumed charge as Teacher-in-Charge of Acharya Prafulla Chandra College from 1st of November 2024.
