NSS

Acharya Prafulla Chandra College has an active NSS group which keeps itself busy round the year. It has three wings Unit I, Unit II & Unit III with 100 students in each unit.

Acharya Prafulla Chandra College is engaged in NSS activities round the year. These units of NSS undertake many programmes, both internal and external, that include :

• College Beautification
• Anti-communal week observation
• Anti smoking campaign in nearby railway station
• Week long programme
• Social integration under the banner of  “We are all one”
• Anti-smoking campaign in nearby railway station
• Health awareness camps in nearby village
• Visiting Anganwari Centres
• Adoption of a village named Panihara for the intervention purpose.

Unit-II of NSS of our college is continuously at work in the village PANIHARA between 2010 and 2014. Special programmes, for the downtrodden people were undertaken during this period. These people are mainly slum dwellers and belong to the Muslim minority community. PANIHARA SISHU SIKHA NIKETAN ( Panihara Children Education Centre) about 3 Kms. from the college was chosen as the centre of activities for awareness of environmental pollution, avoiding us of plastic bags and materials, precautions against viral diseases, health check up campus etc. The volunteers made the dwellers aware of the utility of tree plantation around their houses and walking path. The unit also tried to develop scientific mind by making effort to remove social superstitions. Posters and banners were accompanied by lectures against superstition. At the end of the programme, the children of the centre were given away prizes for their programmes in games, dance music and painting. Similarly Unit I & Unit II of NSS rendered valuable services in and around the college. The students are taught to be better and responsible citizens of the nation.
